Sony is bringing God of War Ragnarok to PCs worldwide on September 19, 2024, however, there’s a catch. To the dismay of the PC fans, they’ll have to make and connect through a PlayStation Network or PSN account.
Apparently, Sony didn’t learn from the Ghost of Tsushima and Helldivers 2 backlash, and they are determined to keep players connected to a PSN account even as they transition their huge gaming portfolio to the PC.
This is quite odd since most of the games that have been ported to the PC are mostly single-player games. For the fans, it doesn’t make sense, because you aren’t playing with anyone else anyway.
We’ll have to wait and see if Sony retracts the requirement similarly as they did for Helldivers 2. However, in the case of Helldivers 2, players have already bought the game prior to the PSN account requirement. This is a huge deal because some regions were not able to play the game they purchased, rendering them unable to create PSN accounts due to their region. This is possibly why they thought this PSN requirement could go through for God of War Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok PC Release Details
Regarding the details of God of War Ragnarok’s PC release, the game will arrive with full integration with NVIDIA RTX’s DLSS, AMD’s FSR, and Intel’s XeSS which allows you to have greater graphical settings and resolutions.
Players will also enjoy 21:9 and 32:9 ultra-widescreen support. The game will also include God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla including all the post-launch updates and new game+ mode.
God of War Ragnarok Pre-order Bonuses for PC
Pre-purchase is now available on Steam and Epic Game Store with two different editions of the game: Standard and Digital Deluxe.
If the game doesn’t show up on Steam or Epic Game Store, it might not be available in your region because it is linked to a PSN account.
If you purchase the game before release, you’ll receive a Kratos Risen Snow Armor and the Atreus Risen Snow Tunic cosmetics.
