How to complete White-Faced Varres quest in Elden Ring – all locations and tasks

Elden Ring players all have met White-Faced Varre, although they may not realize it. White-Faced Varre is the first NPC you meet as you leave the tutorial dungeon and step foot on the grassy plains of Limgrave. He will hang around the area for a while, but as soon as players defeat Godrick and have access to the Roundtable Hold, he will move on.

The next place that Varre can be found is outside the from of the Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes after players have made their way through the Stormveil Castle.

Speak to Varre and exhaust his dialogue to get a gift from him in the form of five Festering Bloody Fingers. These can be used to invade other players and attempt to kill them. After you have done this three times, you can return to him, and you do not need to be successful in slaying the other player. Speak with him again at the Rose Church, and he will ask you to join his order.

Agree to do so, and he will give you the Lord of Blood’s Favor, and he will ask you to soak it in the blood of a maiden. The good news is that you can do this without killing any other NPC and interrupting a quest. Make your way to the Church of Inhibition, and you will find the corpse of a Maiden there that you can use.

The Chruch of Inhibition can be found in Liurnia of the Lakes but is an awkward spot to get to. It is necessary to come down from the north, as cliffs block access from the south. The Grand Lift of Dectus is a good starting point, as players can head south and angle left to get to the Frenzied Flame Village. At the back of the village, you can find a sloping route that leads to the Church of Inhibition. An NPC is likely to invade here, so be careful.

Up in the Church, you will find a Site of Grace, the Maiden slumped in a chair and a Sacred Tear. Bloody the Favor with the corpse and then return to the Rose Church to speak with Varre. He will reward you with a reusable Blood Finger and a Pureblood Knight’s Medal if you exhaust his dialogue options. This will allow you to fight Mohg, the Lord of Blood boss.

Players who make their way to the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint Site of Grace will find a summon sign that allows them to fight Varre.

Getting to the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint is an interesting proposition, and it is where you need to go if you want to fight Mohg. First, players will need to get to the Consecrated Snowfield. To do this, they will need to get the Haligtree Secret Medallion. The left part is found at Castle Sol, while the right is located at the Village of the Albinaruics in Liurnia.

When they have both parts, using them at the Grand Lift of Rold will open a secret passage to the Consecrated Snowfield. From there, go west and follow the edges of the cliff around until you come to a teleporter that will send you to Moghwym Palace. This is the underground area to the east of Siofra River, for anyone who was wondering how to get there.

The route through here is quite linear, so follow it until you reach the Mausoleum Dynasty Midpoint Site of Grace, then look for a summon sign to be able to go after Varre and kill him. After that, you can choose to take on Mogh, the Lord of Blood, if you wish, but it will be a tough fight.
