Pax Dei has a lot of animals roaming around that are passive and run away from you when you go near. As a typical hunter, you need a more efficient way to get these animals for their resources. One way to hunt is by using a Bow, but you still have to unlock it even if the Wooden Arrows crafts are there by default already. Here’s a quick guide on how to unlock and craft a bow in Pax Dei.
How to Unlock the Bow Craft in Pax Dei
When you look into your crafting menu, you’ll see that you have the option to craft Wooden Arrows. However, you can’t find any bow weapons to craft. There are a lot of things you need to unlock first before unlocking any kind of bow craft. Firstly, you need to craft the Basic Fletching Tools from the Basic Carpenters Workbench.
Once you have that, you need to use it to craft the Basic Fletching Workbench. Once you have placed the new workbench, look for the Bow crafts. You’ll find a Basic Bow, Primitive Longbow, and Basic Longbow. Most of them aren’t worth it since the Basic Longbow has basically triple the damage from the other bows.
If you just want to hunt rabbits, the Basic Bow should be good enough. But, you might find it hard to fight boars or even hunt deer. You only need 2 Long Wood Stock and 1 Sinew to craft a Basic Bow. For the Basic Long Bow, you need 2 Long Wood Stock, 6 Sinew, 3 Coarse Leather Band, and 2 Coarse Linen String.
Since you already have the Basic Fletching Tools, you might as well unlock the Basic Leatherworking Workbench and get those leather recipe crafts.
What Resources Should You Stockpile as a Ranger?
When you are using a Bow, you need to craft your ammunition or arrows. Wooden Arrows use Sapwood, which is easy to find. But, you also want some Flinthead Arrows for those harder fights, especially when you want to engage the Inquisitors.
You want to farm as many Flint as you can because they are not only used for crafting the basic tools, you also use them for Flinthead Arrows. Five Flinthead Arrows need 3 Flints, so it’ll be a long grind to get your ammunition stacked up.
You’ll also need to farm Flax for most of the crafts and you also need the Basic Tailoring Tools and set up a Spinning Wheel to turn those Flax into Coarse Linen Strings. You can get Sinew from farming boars in the woods or in the mountains, and you’ll also get some much-needed Bone Fragments from them. It might be a long grocery list, but you should expect more of this, especially when you get into Blacksmithing.
