How to Fix the Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Ultrawide Issue on PC

Lyall to the rescue!

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance runs very well on PC and it’s one of the best JPRGs you can play on the Steam Deck right now. Despite some great performance, the PC port doesn’t have many options to adjust and lacks proper ultrawide support with black bars in its presentation. Thankfully, this neat patch from modder Lyall fixes those issues and adds proper ultrawide support in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance with additional options.

This excellent patch from Lyall removes pillarboxing, and letterboxing, adjusts the FOV for any resolution, centers the HUD, and even removes the 60 FPS cap from the menus. It’s more than just a patch that adds ultrawide support.

  • Download the patch file by clicking the SMTVFix_v0.8.2.zip under assets
  • Extract the zip file to where Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is installed

That’s all you need to do to apply the patch. The next time you launch Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the game will run without any black bars with the correct FOV depending on the resolution. Here are a few screenshots provided by Lyall to show the results.
