Pax Dei has an encyclopedic number of resources available, and depending on your starting plot or starting area, some of them are hard to find. You want to stockpile as many of the main resources as you can when you start playing Pax Dei. One of these resources are Planks and Sapwood and here’s how you can get them in large quantities in Pax Dei.
Where to Get Planks in Pax Dei
Firstly, you want to get some Sapwood, which you can find almost anywhere. There are numerous Tree Branches scattered around the world and you just need to go to them and pick them up without needing any tool. However, you only get two to three pieces, but we’ll cover that later.
Use your Construction Hammer or craft one if you haven’t done that already. Look for the Wood Chopping Block in the crafting tab when using the Construction Hammer. Craft and place the Wood Chopping Block. Interact with the Wood Chopping Block and look for Planks. Crafting Planks is only by 10s so you’ll get 10 Planks per craft using 10 Sapwood.
To get Sapwood as fast as possible, you should craft a Basic Carpenters Workbench and use it to craft a Gneiss Stone Axe using 2 Sapwood and 1 Gneiss. Use the Gneiss Stone Axe to chop some trees, and you’ll get upwards of 10 Sapwood per tree. Bigger ones yield more, but it takes more time to chop.
Trees respawn quite quickly so it doesn’t matter how much you deforest your area. The more trees you chop, the faster it respawns. I suggest going for the trees closer to you and ignoring the farther ones. You can farm some other resources like Flax since it frequently spawns in grassy areas anyway.
What Are Planks Used For?
Planks are mainly used for furniture, decorations, and base-building objects like floors and walls. Since you want your base to be on equal ground, it is best to build a foundation, and you’ll use a lot of Planks to make that happen. Since your plot radius is a bit small, you also want to build up, and making multiple floors requires good positioning of Pillars and Beams before making the floors and walls. In short, you’ll need hundreds, if not thousands, of Planks.
