When you start exploring the sewers underneath the city in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will eventually come across Aelis Siryasius. In BG3, Aelis Siryasius is a mentally unstable, paranoid Sorcerer who might decide that you are a threat. So, should you kill Aelis Siryasius in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Should You Kill Aelis Siryasius in BG3?
Yes, you should just kill Aelis Siryasius when you get the chance. However, we wouldn’t initiate the attack through dialogue. When you come across Aelis in the Lower City Sewers of Baldur’s Gate, he will think you are a member of the Absolute. As long as you can convince him you aren’t, he will tolerate you for a short time.
After passing this check, we recommend planning his demise and getting as many hits against him or his elementals as you can. Once you kill Aelis Siryasius in BG3, you will have unhindered access to the closed-off treasure in his den, and Sarin’s Skeleton.
The reason you should take him out is because he will be hostile the moment you return to his den regardless. Passing the persuasion check with Aelis will only give you safe passage once. After that, he doesn’t want to see you return. You should simply take the opportunity to get rid of the problem in the area.
Aside from the treasure in the den, you can solve the Sarin’s Skeleton puzzle with no issues now that the danger is gone. However, you’ll need to leave the Lower City Sewers and enter the Undercity Ruins for the solution.
What Happens if You Keep Aelis Siryasius Alive?
If you don’t kill Aelis Siryasius in BG3 when you meet him, you’re gonna have a much more difficult time in this area. For starters, you’ll get attacked by enemies while trying to solve Sarin’s Skeleton Puzzle. Also, he will become hostile either way, as soon as you come back to his den. You also get locked out of some loot in his den if you decide to keep him alive.

Who is Aelis Siryasius in BG3?
BG3’s Aelis Siryasius is a half-drow Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer who inhabits the Lower City sewers. He calls himself “one of the three finest thieves in Baldur’s Gate.” Unfortunately, he lost one of his friends, Sarin, after breaking into Gortash‘s office and discovering the new lord’s plan to use the Absolute to rule the city.
This draconic Sorcerer is a tormented soul whose mind could not handle what happened to him and Sarin, making Aelis justifiably paranoid and unstable. However, as players investigate more into his version of the story, they will realize that there’s much more to this situation than meets the eye, including the skeleton puzzle and the real reason behind Sarin’s death.
